YourToyTrains is perplexed our President, Clyde Smith, wants to write about a museum he discovered in his beloved Texas. We unsuccessfully pointed out the museum really wasn't about trains- but you know how owners can be. The Texas Heritage Museum in Hillsboro, Texas, about 60 miles south of Dallas on Interstate 35, has an excellent collection of artifacts and exibits on the history of wars in which Texas has been involved. The "War Between The States", sometimes called the "Civil War", has a large impressive gallery. Other exibits feature the World Wars and Vietnam. Outside there is a memorial to Texas Medal of Honor (Pictured) recipients. With free admission and a friendly staff, it is a great place for a day trip.
Travel Hint: For a day trip you can't go wrong with genuine Texas cooking at the Lone Star Cafe out on Interstate 35.
