YourToyTrains- Model Trains- Last September we visited Crewe, England, in the Midlands near Manchester. Crewe is on the West Coast Main Line from London- Scotland, one of the United Kingdom's busiest routes. Crewe developed from a small hamlet to a mid-size city during the 19th Century as it was at the junction of rail lines from London to Wales and Scotland. The railway built shops and the town grew into a city with the growth of the railway. Like many cities in the US, the shops in Crewe have long closed, and the city is no longer a "railway town". Don't tell that to the folks at the National Rail station in Crewe. In Great Britain a public corporation, Railtrack, owns the track, but private operators such as Virgin Trains run the trains. See our post on Facebook whch shows the busy activity at an English railway station.Come along!
