YourToyTrains- Model Trains- We recently visited Chicago to check up on the Rail Capital of America. On Michigan Avenue facing Milleneum Park we could not help but take a picture of the Railway Exchange Building. Santa Fe was born in Topeka, Kansas, where Cyrus Holliday had a dream of a transcontinental railroad. Unlike most railroad dreamers, Cyrus' dream came true. Of the many great American railroads, Santa Fe is one of the true greats. With the greatest fleet of passenger trains- including the famous Super Chief- fast freight service including the Chicago-California Transcon route, and its promotion of the American Southwest, Santa Fe was one of America's great corporations. At some point, Chicago being the railroad capitol, drew Santa Fe's headquarters away from Kansas (even though for many years offices were maintained in Topeka), and for many years the Santa Fe called this beautiful iconic Chicago building home. Fitting for a world-class company to have a world-class home!
