I (Clyde Smith, President of YourToyTrains) have lived in Dallas for over 20 years, but I never knew how folks got the picture of trains crossing the Trinity River with the Dallas Skyline behind them. I thought the pictures were taken by trespassers on Union Pacific property, or professional photographers with permits. I was wrong on both counts. The day the Margaret Hunt Bridge opened I noticed the Union Pacific Railroad bridge was just south of this glorious new bridge. After a short walk from the new bridge I found along the levee public space that made this wonderful angle of trains with the Dallas Skyline easy to access. Directions: Cross the Trinity River on the Margaret Hunt Bridge (Woodall Rogers Freeway becomes Singleton Boulevard). Parking is available in the lot for the new Continental Avenue Pedestrian Bridge. Walk south on the levee maybe 300 feet and you will be next to the Union Pacific Railroad bridge. A great place for photographs! The nearby Trinity Groves has many dining opportunities. Enjoy railfanning!
