At YourToyTrains- Model Trains- we just love trains. But enough to get locked up? Last Tuesday I was in Marshall, Texas, where two Union Pacific main lines junction. The main line to St. Louis and Little Rock meets the main line to Shreveport and New Orleans near the former Texas & Pacific Railway Depot in Marshall. In the evening the depot is open from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM for passengers boarding or detraining the Amtrak Texas Eagle. Arriving at the station at 8:25 with the gate open, I assumed the Texas Eagle was late and ran right up to the station platform. I did not see the Amtrak station custodian. Uh oh. Running back to the gate, I found it locked. I had missed the Amtrak guy, the Texas Eagle had already come, and here I am all locked up, safe and sound. I called 911 and a police officer was on the scene within 10 minutes- to let me know the Fire Department had the key! In another 15 minutes the Marshall Fire Department did show up and I was a free man. The very nice fireman (Small Town America) said he did not mind coming to the depot to hear all about my love of trains. A good night in Marshall!
